For unto us a child is born....

This is another of the Christmas cards we made at the workshop this month. It utilises the Madonna & Child stamp set that is available in the current Stampin' Up catalogue (page 26). I felt the stamp was beautiful in itself so the card is very simple to reflect that. I have included two photos for you to look at. The list of materials are listed below.

I am not sure if I will be able to make another post before Christmas, so I want to pass on my best wishes to you and your families. May you have a wonderful Christmas celebrating with family and friends. God Bless you all and keep you safe this festive season. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Materials used:

Stamp set: Madonna & Child
Stamp pad: Chocolate chip
Cardstock: Natural ivory, always artichoke & very vanilla
Accessories: Stampin' pastels, blender pens, glitter glue & chocolate grosgrain ribbon

Sandy Claws

Unfortunately this Crab & Co stamp set is unavailable now!! It was in our Spring Mini Catalogue this year. I know some of you purchased it, as did I. I wanted to show you a Christmas design using the adorable little crab. Again this was not a difficult card to make. I have stamped the crab using chocolate chip ink onto confetti cream cardstock, then I have coloured the crab using my Stampin' pastels. The confetti cream matte has been mounted onto a strip of always artichoke, which is then mounted onto real red cardstock (I really like this colour combination)!! The always artichoke has been stamped with the Print pattern background stamp, and then I have used white gel pen to create a quilt-like pattern. For added bling, I used glitter glue to accent some elements on the card, also the edges of the confetti cream cardstock has been inked with chocolate chip to add dimension.
Materials used:
Stamp sets: Crab & Co, Print pattern, & sincere salutations
Stamp pads: Always artichoke, chocolate chip & basic black
Cardstock: Confetti cream, always artichoke & real red
Accessories: Glitter glue, stampin' pastels, blender pens & white gel pen

Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree.....

Well it's nearly that time of year again!! What better way to get in the Christmas spirit then sending handemade Christmas cards to family and friends. I thought I would share with you one of the cards we made at the recent Christmas stack workshops. It was quite simple to make, but the little touches gave it added elegance. The card itself was embossed using a cuttlebug embossing folder. Then the stamped image (taken from Greetings Galore) was mounted on bravo burgundy, which was notched, and gold cord was weaved around the notches. For added bling, some workshop attendants coloured the baubles and star on the tree with glitter glue. All products used, other then the cuttlebug and glitter glue are available from Stampin' Up.
Materials used:
Cardstock: Handsome hunter, bravo burgundy & whisper white
Stamp set: Greetings Galore
Stamp pad: Basic black
Accessories: Stampin' pastels, gold cord, blender pens, glitter glue, cuttlebug & script embossing folder.

Holiday Thyme Designer Series

Here are some gift bags I have made out of the Holiday Thyme Designer Series paper. Aren't they cute!!! Stampin' Up® has a promotion running at the moment where they are selling this designer series pack (12 x 12 pages of 6 designs, 2 of each) for an incredible $14.50 (usually $ 17.25). I have downloaded the 2, 5, 7, 10 box template from Splitcoast Stampers to create these little gift bags. I have then filled them with Christmas candy, ready to give to friends and my son's preschool teachers. They were so quick and easy to make. You should give it a try. The promotion for this designer series ends on the 15th December 2007, so don't miss out. Call me today to place an order. There are more great ideas on the Stampin' Up® website for use of this paper i.e Christmas bon bon & cards.

Materials used:

Cardstock: Holiday Thyme Designer Series paper, Bravo burgundy, always artichoke & whisper white
Stamp sets: Greetings Galore
Stamp pads: Basic Black
Accessories: Burgundy grosgrain ribbon, crystal effects, eyelet setter

On another note, there are a few exciting things happening at the moment. Stampin' Up® has released it's new mini summer catalogue that is available to purchase from as of December. Some of you may have received a copy in the mail. However, if you did not, feel free to email me and I will post one to you for $5 (includes postage).

In the new year, Stampin' Up® is running an exciting promotion called Sale-A-Bration. What this means is that you can earn sets advertised in the Sale-A-Bration brochure (available from me) FREE!! You simply need to make a purchase, host a workshop or become a demonstrator (conditions apply).

If you have any questions, or would like to find out more about any of the above mentioned promotions, please don't hesitate to email me.

Finally, I would like to thank each and everyone of you who purchased the All in the Family stamp set during the month of November. As you are aware all proceeds went directly to the Abbott family. Over 4100 sets were sold worldwide!!! It is amazing that so many people got behind such a worthwhile cause. So thank you again on behalf of Stampin' Up® and the Abbott family.

All in the Family

I got my All in the Family stamp set this week and couldn't wait to use it. I decided to design another Christmas card for the Christmas stack workshops I am running (see previous entry). What I like is that you can create a personal image reflecting your own family to send to family and friends.....and it's lots of fun to make. I have stamped the family with chocolate chip ink an then coloured in using my stampin' pastels and blender pens. The Christmas tree I took from the stamp set Greetings Galore. I have used the Riveting stamp set (hostess set) for the tag at the top and stamped the image on two pieces of coordinating cardstock and paper pieced together. Everyday Flexible Phrases stamp set has been used for the 'celebrate christmas'. The background has been done using the Twinkle stampin' around set and inked with old olive. The main image has been sponged around edges with old olive ink and adhered to the chocolate chip matte using the slit punch. I have provided a full list of materials used below.

Cardstock: Natural ivory, chocolate chip, ruby red and old olive
Stamp sets: All in the Family, Everyday Flexible Phrases, Riveting, Greetings Galore and Twinkle
Stamp pads: Chocolate chip and old olive
Accessories: Stampin' dimensionals, Stampin' pastels, blender pens, slit punch

Penrith papercraft festival

Hi all. I have just returned from a fun day at the papercraft festival in Penrith. There were over 37 different retail stores to browse through with some great bargains to be had. I finally plucked up the courage to invest in a Cuttlebug!! For those of you who have not heard of this machine, it makes die-cuts for your scrapbook pages and also embosses. I can't wait to try it out. There was a stall run by some Independant Demonstrators from Stampin' Up. It was great to check out for inspiration and also to meet some lovely people. There is still time to check out the fair. It is open again tomorrow between 10am-4pm. It is only $10 entry, and well worth it!! On another note, if any of you have been interested in purchasing the "All in the Family" stamp set that I mentioned in my last entry, I have a special for you. Instead of paying $73.95 plus postage & handling, I will sell it for $59.15 plus postage & handling (this is minus my 20% commission). As I mentioned before, all sales of this stamp set goes directly to the Abbott family. This is to make it more affordable for you, and to attempt to sell more of these stamp sets to support the Abbott family. You only have until the end of the month to purchase at this price. So please let me know if you are interested.

November Promotion

Stampin' Up has a very special promotion for this month. David Abbott, the General Manager of Stampin' Up! Australia passed away in October following a long battle with a rare blood disease. They are releasing a special stamp set titled "All in the Family" which will be available to purchase for this month only. It will not be available again until April 2008 when it will appear in the upcoming Idea Book and Catalogue. Every single dollar from the sale of this stamp set worldwide in November will be donated to this fund. For further information or to see what the set looks like go to the Stampin' Up! website at www.stampinup.com . If you would like to order this set, please feel free to email me. I hope you are able to get behind this worthwhile cause. Till next time!!!

Mother's Birthday Card

I thought while I am at the computer, I might as well make another entry. I am still having some computer issues, so it may be a while before I am back to make another entry. I have to thank both my brother-in-law and mother for letting me on their computers. On that note, here is the card that I gave to my mum for her birthday. I decided to use up some leftover designer series paper from the scrapbooking night (some of you may recognise the paper from the recollection series, pg 132). This is the result. I have used sponging on this card as well around the edges. I have a thing for sponging at the moment if you can't tell.

Materials used:

Stamp sets: Petal prints & favourite teddy bear
Cardstock: Always artichoke, cranberry crisp & very vanilla
Stamp pads: Cranberry crisp & true thyme
Accessories: Stampin' dimensionals, stamping sponges & burgundy organza ribbon (not Stampin' Up®)

Another Card

Well as I promised, here is another card. This is a design that I prepared for one of my upcoming workshops. I recently purchased the Looks Like Spring stamp set (pg 67). So I wanted to see what I could do. As usual I browsed the splitcoast stampers website for inspiration, and found this design which I have tweeked to suit the colours I wanted to use. What I love about this card is the effect of the two toned flowers. It was Soooooo easy. All I did was inked the image in a lighter ink, and then using stamping sponges (pg 143), used a darker ink and sponged directly to stamp. Then I stamped the image....VOILA!!!! I have listed below the supplies I have used if you wish to give it a go for yourself.

Material used:

Stamp sets: Looks like spring & riveting (hostess set)
Cardstock: Natural ivory, summer sun & ruby red
Stamp pads: Ruby red, summer sun & basic black
Accessories: Burgundy grosgrain ribbon, stampin' dimensionals & crystal effects

Baby Shower

I am going to a friends baby shower tomorrow and thought I'd try my hand at yet another card. As yet I don't have any baby related stamps other than Wild About U. I thought I would revert back to another of my favourite stamp sets, being Favourite Teddy Bear to see what I could create. I tried to pick neutral colours as she doesn't know what she is having, but I wanted it to be bright and fun. I have used paper piercing to create the image. This is the result. Feel free to tell me what you think.

Materials used:
Cardstock: Taken with teal, apricot appeal, bravo burgundy, yoyo yellow, green galore, close to cocoa & whisper white
Inks: Basic black & white craft
Stamp sets: Favourite Teddy Bear, Sincere Salutations, Fresh Fillers
Accessories: Co-ordinating brads (not from Stampin' Up®)

Little Girl's Birthday Card

My cousin's little girl turns 4 this week. Today we went to a park with all the kids to have a party. I made this card for her using the Wild About U stamp set (which seems to be a favourite of mine at the moment). I wasn't sure about colour coordination for this card. I knew I wanted it to be bright pink but was stuck for other colours to use. That's where my colour coach came in handy (pg 126 of the catalogue). For $18.95 it gives you a number of colour co-ordinations to use for the entire Stampin' Up® colour range. I was quite happy with the results. Let me know what you all think.

Material used:
Cardstock: Pink passion, lovely lilac, green galore & whisper white
Inks: Pixie pink & green galore
Accessories: Decorative scissors, coloured brads & white gel pen

60 Christmas Cards from Simply Scrappin' Kit

Hi everyone. As promised I have included some photos of the Christmas cards I have made from All the Trimmings Simply Scrappin' Kit. There are 60 in total which is ample for my Christmas list this year. How about you? As this was my first attempt, some designs I like and others I think need a little tweeking. It's all trial and error really. As they say practice makes perfect. If you are keen to have a go, send me an email, and I will happily order a Simply Scrappin' Kit for you and provide the template for the making of your cards.

Nephew's First Birthday Invite

My sister flattered me the other day when she offered to pay me to design my nephew's first birthday invitation....the pressure!!! I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, so as per usual, I jumped onto Splitcoast Stampers and cruised the gallery for ideas. I knew I wanted to use the Wild About You stamp set (pg 87) so when I found this design I decided to CaSE it (copy and share everything). As you can see in the first photo the invite is inclosed within the framework of the card (pocket created at front of design). I also decided to put some magnetic tape on the back so that the guests could attach to their fridges for easy reference (see second photo). The last photo just shows you what the card looks like without the invite insert in the pocket. The actual invite template I have designed on the computer and attached directly to the cardstock insert. I have listed below the material I have used to make this design. I had a lot of fun making this, particularly as this is my very first nephew. It is always rewarding to create something for someone who is very special and dear to us!!!

Stamp sets: Wild About You (pg 87), Print Pattern (pg 105) and All About U (pg 115)
Cardstock: Always artichoke, so saffron & whisper white
Ink: basic black, marigold morning, true thyme, buckaroo blue
Accessories: gold eyelets, brown ribbon, magnetic tape, white gel pen

Materials used (all Stampin' Up®):
Cardstock: cool caribbean, true thyme, cranberry crisp, marigold morning & vintage violet.
Ink: basic black, chocolate chip
Accessories: Stampin' Pastels & blender pen

60 Cards from one Simply Scrapping Kit

Well it has been a little while since my last post. Boy, how time flies. It has been a very busy month for me with lots of workshops, and I have been having so much fun. Now for those of you who have purchased any of the Stampin' Up® Simply Scrapping Kits ($24.95 - pg 134-135), here is a fantastic idea. When I was on Splitcoast Stampers, I came across a template by Amanda Cox, who designed 60 cards from one Simply Scrapping Kit. That's Right....60 cards!!!! I thought it was a brillant idea, so I bought the At Home Simply Scrapping Kit and off I went. I have taken photos of only a few of the cards I have made. I plan to do the same thing with All the Trimmings Simply Scrapping Kit for christmas cards, and I will try and post my results later. All the stickers and diecuts are included in the kit, the only additional material I needed to purchase was Stampin' Up's® grosgrain ribbon (burgundy pictured here - pg 148). For $10.95 I got 23 metres of ribbon, and there's still plenty leftover. Sorry that some of the photos are sideways, I hurriedly did this post as I was eager to show you the results. Hopefully you can still see O.K. Until next time, enjoy your stamping and creating.

Another Christmas Creation

This is another christmas card I have designed for a workshop I have this Friday. It utilises the Wishing You stamp set which can be found in the Stampin' Up® Mini Spring Catalogue (available till 30th November 2007) and the Stampin' Up® linen background stamp (pg 106). The products used are as follows:

Cardstock: Always artichoke, real red, whisper white
Inks: Real red, marigold morning, buckaroo blue, chocolate chip
Accessories: Bind It All (for the film strip look)

Just a reminder also for those of you that wish to attend the scrapbooking night on the 28th September, RSVP is THIS Friday the 14th September. Have 8 people already confirmed, so I have only 2 spots left!!

Trifold Card

This is a card that I designed for one of my workshops this weekend gone. The template I naturally got from Splitcoast Stampers. I have used paper from Stampin' Up's® In Colour range to make this card. True Thyme for the card, and Vintage Violet and Whisper white for the mattes. The stamp sets used include All About U (pg 115), Fresh Fillers (pg 100) and Favorite Teddy Bear (pg 46). The stamp pads used are also from the In Colour range being cranberry crisp, marigold morning and true thyme. I am really loving these colours. I do hope they stay around when the next catalogue is released. To hold the card together I have used Stampin' Up's® Black gingham ribbon (pg 148). Hope you like.

Card Organiser

This little card organiser template I found in the resource section of Splitcoast Stampers. It was designed by Beate Johns. It is a nifty way to track birthdays and anniversaries as well as store the cards for the occasion. It gave me the opportunity to use my Bind It All tool, which I have been itching to use again. I have used true thyme, cranberry crisp and confetti cream cardstock on the cover, and confetti cream cardstock for the internal pages. Stampin' Up® Petal Print stamp set (pg 68) has been used on the entire project. I have handcut the letters on the front cover and have added some gold brads for added effect. The calendar printouts were available online, so I printed them onto whisper white cardstock and adhered to the organiser. This would make a lovely gift for someone special, or on the otherhand, you could keep it for yourself (I think I may do the latter). If you haven't checked out Splitcoast Stampers, I suggest you have a look. It has some fantastic ideas. The link is available to the left.

Candle Decorating

I have been experimenting with candle decorating over the last few months after I saw a tutorial for it on Splitcoast Stampers and seeing a lovely example in the current Stampin' Up® catalogue (pg 67). These are some photos of the one I have made today. You can pick plain candles up from most variety shops quite cheaply. I have used cranberry crisp, true thyme and confetti cream for my paper. I have stamped the cranberry crisp paper with the Print Pattern background stamp (pg105). I have used a white gel pen (pg 145) for the dots. The true thyme has been shaped using some decorative scissors. Wonderful Words stamp set (pg 114) has been used on the confetti cream. I have embellished the candle using some paper flowers I got at the recent Stitches and Craft show in Sydney, which I think finish the project off nicely. The paper has been adhered using adhesive, and some brads (pg 146) have been used for added effect. I am really loving the versatility I have with my Stampin' Up® products!!!!

Sponging & Stampin' Glitter® Technique

I have just had some fun creating this Thankyou card using sponging and Stampin' Glitter®. I love the added dimension and rustic charm they give to the card. I have used my Stampin' Up® slit punch (pg 140) to create a scallop edge on the pretty in pink paper. I have used my own decorative scissors to mimic the scallop edge on the white matte. Versamark (pg 145) has been used to stamp background on the card (used Fresh Fillers stamp set, pg 100). Petal Prints (pg68) & Favorite Teddy Bear (pg 46) are the images used for the front design. All I have done to get the smudged look around the colour cardstock and white matte is by using wedges of the stamping sponges (pg 143) dipped in Stamping' Up® ink stamp pads and sponged directly on the edges. Can also use sponge daubers (pg 143) to get similar effect. Ink colours used here are pixie pink, marigold morning and perfect plum. The bow on the flowers and glitter strip have been created using Stampin' Glitter® (pg 145) and Sticky strip (pg 142). It is very easy!! Just place strip of sticky strip where you want on the card, peel off the backing tape and sprinkle with Stampin' Glitter® (good idea to do this over some scrap paper, as glitter does like to go everywhere). Tap excess glitter off the card and you are left with glitter image. I LOVE IT!!! No more sticky mess with glue, and glitter where you don't want it. Best of all, the excess glitter from scrap paper can be put back into container ready for next time, wasting none. Have a go, it really adds a little 'bling' to your cards.

Christmas Cheer

I am having a workshop tomorrow, and the hostess requested some Christmas designs. This is one of the cards I have adapted from a design on Splitcoast Stampers. It uses Stampin' Up® stamp set Hung Up on the Holidays (pg 24). I LOVE this set. The price is quite reasonable too, $29.95 for 6 stamps!!! I have made this card using the In Colour range (pg 127). The card is made from buckaroo blue, while the mattes are cranberry crisp and whisper white. The inks used for the ornaments are all from the In Colour range as well. True thyme, cranberry crisp, buckaroo blue and marigold morning. The ornament strings are basic black. Too add a little 'dazzle', I used the Stampin' Around ® Twinkle (pg 25) at the bottom of the card and inked it with a silver Encore® pad. I have hand written the Merry Christmas under the star. I am surprised, that although the colours are not what you'd call Christmasey, the card has a holiday season feel to it. It definitely makes me want to try other colours for my Christmas cards this year to make them a little different from the everyday ones. Maybe you can give it a try too!!!

Little Gift Card Box

I just wanted to share with you one of my hostess gifts I made. I found the template for this cute 3"x3" card box on Splitcoast Stampers (where else)!! It was created by Andrea Walford (blog site listed to the left). The box itself is made using Stamping Up ® cardstock. All the colours are from the rich regals range. The base is made from elegant eggplant, and accented with always artichoke, while the lid is made from bordering blue. The 3"x3" cards are made from rose red, taken with teal & so saffron. Whisper white cardstock has been used for mattes. I made my mini envelopes from a site I found on the internet (free of course). The Stampin' Up® stamps sets used were Petal Prints (pg 68) on the card box as well as Favorite Teddy Bear (pg 46) for the thank you tag. On the mini cards I have used Greetings Galore (pg 42), Simple Somethings (pg 44), Favorite Teddy Bear (pg 46), Sincere Salutations (pg 117), Fresh Fillers (pg 100) and Wishing You (pg 3) from the Mini Spring Catalogue. Obviously, you would not need to use all these stamp sets to create gorgeous little cards, but I wanted to experiment with a range of sets. I am really happy with the finished product......it really is CUTE!!! I will be definitely making it again.

Mini Coaster Album

Just thought I would share another of my creations with you. It is a mini album made from chipboard coasters. The first photo is a closed view (above), and the second gives you an idea of what it looks like opened (below). It is a lovely project to make as a gift for family or friends, and it is so easy to do. I have just covered the coasters in co-ordinating paper and cardstock I had leftover from my scrapbook pages, but the double sided designer series paper from Stampin' Up® on pg 133 would look great. The stamp set is Stampin' Up's® All About U (pg 115). I have sealed the papers with modge podge and then embellished with paper flowers, brads, ribbon etc. All that needs to be added now are the photos. I just have to decide which ones. Now if you love embellishments as much as me, Stampin' Up® has a great promotion running from the 1st September-28th September. When you purchase a Starter Kit you can choose a free Hodgepodge Hardware set (located on pg 146), valued at $52.95 for free. If you would like to know more, or are interested, please call or email me with any questions. I am always happy to have a chat. Till next time, happy scrapping, stamping, crafting etc etc.

Notepad/Journal

So excited. Went to the Stitches & Craft show in Sydney on Thursday. My Mum actually discovered this useful tool by Zutter Innovative Products, called Bind it All. As the name suggests, it punches and binds things. LOOK at what I've done!! This is a blank notepad/journal that I have made from my Stampin' Up® products, Bind it All and miscellaneous embellishments. The paper I have used is elegant eggplant (pg 129) for the cover, and whisper white (page 127) for the inner pages. The stamp set is Wonderful Words II (page 114). The flowers and brads I purchased at the Stitches and Craft show (on sale of course), and I am really happy with the finished project. I can't wait to bind other projects.....calenders, to do lists, boxes, chipboard, CDs, the possibilities are endless.

Album in a Box

This template for an album box I got from splitcoast stampers, and I think it is so cute. It would make a great present for a friends birthday, mothers day, fathers day, christmas etc. I have used papers from the Stampin' Up® In Colour range (true thyme & cranberry crisp) as well as some offcuts from scrapbook pages. The Stampin' Up® stamp sets I have used include Petal Prints (pg 68) All About U (pg 115) and the Linen background stamp (pg 106). These are photos of the results. Hope you like!!

Welcome

Welcome to you all. For someone as computer illiterate as me I can't believe I have my own blog. There has been many tears and frustrations, but here I am. I hope that you will find this site useful. This is the way I hope to communicate all upcoming events and classes, rather then the monthly newsletter. I would appreciate any feedback you might have. Remember that I am having a scrapbook night on Friday 28th September at my house @ 7pm. For a cost of $25 all supplies and instructions will be provided to make your own 20 page 6x6 scrapbook, you just need to let me know which designer series paper you would like from page 132 of the Stampin' Up® catalogue (view online if you do not have a catalogue), and bring an album for your pages (available from spotlight for $7). Light refreshments and supper is included. Class sizes are maximum of 10. Please contact me if you are interested or have any further questions. I will run future classes if the need arises.
